TRAVIS ZIMMER AWARD
The Spirit of Scouting award was created to honor one of the Troop 379 scouts who is no longer with us. Travis Zimmer had a heart attack during a troop hike in the Matazal Wilderness on May 22, 1993. Travis had significant medical issues but those issues did not prevent him from enjoying Scouting activities and the outdoors to the fullest. His spirit will live on through this award that is presented yearly. The recipient is selected by the Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster’s and is given to the scout who best exemplifies having a lifestyle which lives up to all points of the Scout Law.
